re:"What Happened to Mike Shula?"
My sources say Mike Shula is very high on Orsini's list.
They like Mike Shula because:
Name recognition
Clean past - good image
Young (born 1965)
Big program experience as player and coach - (like Doherty)
NFL experience as player and coach

Doherty and Shula could probably get larger attendance to a Celebrity Auction/Fashion Show with the Babes than to an SMU Game.

You're right Stallion, but ya know who you usually have to convince in recruiting besides the player?
Yep, the player's Mom.
I bet this guy could convince a Mom or two that SMU is the place for their son.

having lived in tampa (OC for the bucs) and seen what he did at Bama, i dont really think he's the one. he hasn't proven anything except that he's a mediocre coach and offensive coordinator

as much as i want #2 (insert joke later)...2 and 3 are out of the equation because they have a "PAST"

yea, but there's no telling what Steve-O's gonna do. those are just the guys i think would be the best choices. im at the point where i just dont listen to what anybody says about the search anymore, unless Orsini says "i am not going to hire _____"

quik....we agree on Bowden.
Barnett is out.
Nuke-Hisel would probably work too.
But I still predict it's going to be Mike Shula.

dailycampus did a big article about how Orsini won't pick someone with a controversial past, and it mentioned barnett in it, making people think he wont pick barnett.

They picked Barnett, but Neuheisel's past is just as if not more controversial.
