Congrats, SMU, This is What You're Getting...

-A coach who won ONE Wack Championship in nine years.

-A coach who lost to Florida Atlantic and Portland St.! Yes, lost two D-1AA teams (FAU was still D-1AA a few years back and that was the year we had Timmy Chang with his Heisman campaign, which was a joke!).

-A coach whose teams beats up on poor teams in the WACK conf -- then gets blown out by teams who can actually ball:

1. USC: 3 times, wasn't even close

2. Michigan St.

3. Georgia -- teams was unprepared, JJ looked confused, and was totally outcoached.

4. Florida -- we are going to get blow out with or without JJ. But, with JJ we'd get blown out b/c that game is in the early season, and JJ's teams ALWAYS struggles in the early season. Just like SC, MSU was. More on that later...

Now, SC and Georgia are great teams, but you'd expect a closer game that it was. But, none of the games were even close.

-JJ's record on the road against BCS schools wasn't impressive

-Before this season, JJ beat Boise once in nine years,

-Before this season, JJ NEVER beat Nevada on the road in nine years. Frickin' Neveda!

-Before this season, JJ lost @ La.Tech more than he won.

Bottom Line?

This is what you're getting:

1. A coach whose team struggles in the early season. Why? JJ's teams don't tackle in practice! So, it takes a while for them to get used to "real" game speed. It'll get better as the season goes on.

2. A coach whose team struggles tackling. Same reason as above.

3. A coach whose team struggles playing defense. Due to the fact, it's the Run-N-Shoot. It's a finesse offense.

4. A coach where opposing teams can just run it down their throats! JJ's teams struggle against teams that are more physical than them and just like to line it up and run it down your throats like La. Tech and Georgia! Same reason, it's the Run-N-Shoot. But, also b/c since JJ's teams never run, so the Defense doesn't practice against the run during practice, so in the game they struggle against it!

5. A coach whose offense only works against mediocre teams, and struggles against teams who actually has REAL players and athletes.

I know there's a lot public out cry right now on the islands. But, I for one am happy to see JJ go!

JJ has done a lot of UH as far as bringing national attention. But, I believe by leaving, JJ's also sparked change within the UH Administration, State Politicians, and Government as far as how the football program should run.

Which means, the next coach will be the beneficiary of this! Hopefully, the next coach will be Norm Chow!

Also, it means Herman Frazier dat' genius and peanut head will be fired! There's no way Hermie can stay on this island now. It ain't safe! Hermie can't even leave his house!

So, congrats, you're getting a great coach, and paying 2 MILLION/Year for someone that won ONE Wack Champ. in NINE years! 8)

Hard to win with a bunch of leftover Islanders. Lots of great Polynesian players but if they're good, they don't stay in HI. Hear you on the D...pretty typical problem with passing teams (see Texas Tech). Hopefully that's changed. For any and all of his problems, this is a huge upgrade for us. Do you want a rundown of Phil Bennett's successes here? It won't take long

And he thinks that post would upset us?

He certainly did not do any research.

But I can count on all my fingers and toes how many games SMU has won in six years under Bennett...I'd be okay with being wiped out by USC and UGA at the moment

Hermie'sAGenius - Forgive me if I don't take your word for it when you don't even realize how many WAC (no k here) championships you have won.

don't be upset because UH did nothing to make him want to stay. get better facilities if you want a better coach. you don't deserve JJ

He was undefeated going into the bowl game. At least he can schedule. How do those sour grapes taste, anyway?
