Based on June Jones coming here (and his history of the comments he made about our setup) and what Dr. Turner said at the press conference, it may be fair to say those chowderheads have been put in their place.

If so, THANK GOD!!

Praise the Lord the militant faculty has been defeated! It took 20 years of kicking ourselves in the butt to prove to the faculty that you actually need to hire a coach that knows how to win. What an original concept. :D

A crowd is gathering outside Dallas Hall ready to seize the faculty and burn down all buildings except the football stadium. The faculty will be locked in the stadium and subjected to videos of the Phil Bennett era. Their own Bastille.

Better leave Junkins if you expect to have power for your rebuilt buildings.

Brace for the the response of the faculty-its coming-I'm a little surprised we haven't heard from them yet. Maybe they realize how bad we have been for so long and realize that it has to be addressed. But I doubt it.

I hope the faculity will support the athletes, I think that the players miss alot of the college experience, with conditioning year round, 2 a days, practice, missed classes due to away games, and injuries. These kids sacrifice so much for the university,no matter what sport they participate in, I pray that everyone gets behind our athletes, they deserve it.
It's a GREAT day to be a MUSTANG!

I'm sure there will be a hot wind blowing from Dallas Hall and Hyer and so on. It should be engaged with brute force.

Either they accept the changes or they can go teach somewhere else. It's their choice.

As I said before, this university was here before these people were here and it will be here when they leave. This is a great school. The faculty doesn't make the school. They are a part of the school.

The students make the school.

I wrote a long speech first and then decided not to waste it on ignorant SMU fans that devalue the awesome faculty we have at SMU.

All I'm going to say is that the faculty has had nothing to do with the last awful 20+ years of football. It is in no way a reflection on them. There opinions have never mattered to anyone who had the power to make decisions in regards to the football program. There is plenty of blame to go around, but none of it belongs on the faculty.

Any idiot that wants to run off our outstanding faculty is someone who we should be chasing with pitchforks and flames.

I'm all for this hire, but if we don't win in 2-3 years let's stop wasting money and drop the football program. I'd rather fund the Geology Department (not my favorite subject) than watch another 0-1 win team.

Spoke to my Dad. He was excited as hell. And he was on the Pye search committee. Only thing he bristled at was my saying our recruiting was now on a "level playing field", and he said "as long as we're on a level playing field with Stanford than I'm okay with it."

Anybody know Stanford's recruiting policy? I'd love to come back with him with some cold hard facts.

BTW - my Dad, SMU faculty member has made 90% of all home games since coming to SMU more 30 years ago. Plus, he'll go - by himself if need be - to random playoff soccer games. Just to support his school. He thinks it's important.

Stanford does make exceptions - like all schools. Moreover, they stick the kids with tutors, if need be. And that's a fact, Jack.
