June Jones and Steve Lineweaver

Hopefully, we can establish the Euless Pipeline and get some of those football playing Tongans into the program. I think June is a Ha'a man and Trinity goes for the Haka - maybe some Trinity recruits could come up with a Perunaka for pre-game. If you've seen Lineweaver's teams play the last 2-3 years, you know Trinity has got some outstanding players.

I tell you Lineweaver is one heck of a coach. He won a state championship at my HS Alma Mater Commerce. He keeps doing it at Trinity.

Seriously. How many Tongan Div I players could possibly come out of one school? One a year? One every other year?

Amen. One of the best high school coaches in Texas. And a great person.

Sorry I brought it up. I should have known it was a bad idea. Never mind.

Why abandon your argument?

Trinity sent at least 4 players to D1a last year, and 3 the year before that. Granted they aren't all Tongan but still, it's a resource/connection/asset that shouldn't be dismissed so easily.

Youri Yenga at SMU is one of them. I think he was the jewel of our recruiting class last year.

If you haven't seen Trinity play football, you are missing a real treat. They are murderously physical, smash mouth guys on defense. That's a school we absolutely want to be connected to. Mao Leota is an all-state DT who was recruited by Hawaii but committed to Utah. With June Jones coming to SMU, I bet he is back in play.

I hear from another message board that Bo Levi Mitchell, QB from Katy who had committed to Hawaii, wants to come to SMU. Katy is obviously another program that SMU hasn't sniffed in years, and which produces plenty of talent. This year, besides Mitchell, at least two impact players are going to D1 schools: Aundre Dean, RB who was previously committed to UCLA but de-committed when Dorrell was fired, and Trent Hunter, a DB who I believe is headed to Kansas State.

Trinity and Katy are winning programs. That means the kids who come out of there are WINNERS. Something for Coach Jones to take maximum advantage of now that SMU has some credibility again in recruiting circles.

Hey, if we can get that one, that will help, right? Can't hurt our recruiting classes as of late.

Even if we don't pull any athletes from his school Lineweaver is a great contact - he's very well respected round the state. Contacts with well respected coaches are never a bad thing.
