I was hoping he would get a spot on the staff. Any chance he will be one of the 2 JJ mentioned?

He would fit the criteria of being someone most of us would like.

I guarantee you that not one single North Texas fan will be pissed off if you hire Flanagan. Everyone that wants your program to fail will celebrate.

Seriously... I can't tell you what a disaster Flanagan was as a coach. Not just the incompetence as an X's-and-O's guy, but the fighting with other staffers, the altercation where he dove into the stands and tried to attack an elderly fan...

Let this warning be an olive branch to promote the healing between North Texas and SMU fans. Hire Flanagan at your own peril.

I was not aware of any rift between SMU and NTSU fans in need of healing.

Nor was I aware that there was a C-O-N-Spiracy to keep them out of Conference USA.

We've moved on. The guy was an outstanding player for SMU and we all enjoyed watching him play - except the Arkansas game in the Cotton Bowl. We don't need any retreads on the coaching staff - Coach Jones will do just fine without sentimental suggestions from ponyfans - hopefully, he will never find (or hear about) this forum. I'm sure Ramon is in demand from other D1 programs anyway.

What is this UNT you speak off? Is it that school in Sherman, Wichita Fallas or the prep school for Texas Women's University.

Berger, I agree with you. Nothing against Ramon, but we need to get behind Jones, and not force anyone on him. he clearly knows what he's doing, as proven at his previous stops. This line of thinking reminds me a lot of what's gone on at Nebraska. There's something to say for supporting your own, but sometimes it's best for the program to start fresh.

I think you should hire him TODAY. That way when your bowl drought continues you can blame him and not your $2million man.
