Taken from Rick Reilly's Column 7/9/08...
Or maybe we should just simplify. "I'd take Alex Rodriguez's wallet," says Yankees fan Dave Villegas, an Ithaca College student. "I'd spend $4 million after the game because he'd cancel the card. I'd buy propertyâ€"a nice Manhattan apartmentâ€"and probably a Shelby Cobra. And I'd still have his ID. I'd show that at bars." Sorry, pal, A-Rod's wallet is already spoken forâ€"by C-Rod.
Zing!!!!!

From Bill Simmons' Draft Diary XII...
5:23: Just took a quick look through reader e-mails from the past hour and everyone seems to agree: We're all excited for the Gay-Love Era in Memphis.

I didn't actually read it -- just saw "gay-love era" and assumed. I guess the countdown was premature.

Ok, time for today's quote...from Rick Reilly's column about NBA players spending themselves broke, the top ten ways to do it....
4. Buy a jet. They burn money like the Pentagon. Do you realize it costs $50,000 just to fix the windshield on one? Scottie Pippen borrowed $4.375 million to buy some wings and spent God knows how much more for insurance, pilots and fuel. Finally, his wallet cried uncle. The courts say he still owes $5 million, including interest. See you in coach, Scottie! (For that matter, why not a yacht? Latrell Sprewell kept his 70-foot Italian-made yacht tied up in storage until the bank repossessed it, in August 2007. He probably sat at home and cried about thatâ€"until the bank foreclosed on his house, this past May.)
