Looks like UCF may join the BE as a football only member. This, if it happens, would probably mean that La Tech would join C-USA, in effect destroying chances for an eastern WAC. Idaho would then most likely join the WAC. If the MWC raids the WAC (depending on how many schools) I'm not sure what would happen next. Maybe the SBC and remaining WAC would merge.

If UCF gets the football only invite, it tells me two things. First, the Big East was unable to work an arrangement with Notre dame to play as an "associate" football member. At one point, there was discussion that ND would play 4 games against BE teams and perhaps be eligible for the BE's BCS bid. Second, the additions of both USF and UCF would give the BE a presence in both Tampa and Orlando and hopefully retain their TV appeal in Florida, a market chalk full of transplanted northeasterners.
