The New Phone Book Is Here!

The new AT&T yellow pages arrived at work today - I did not know they were still printing phone books - And on the front page is The Official Directory of SMU Mustangs and our logo. There is also a color ad on the inside cover.

Glad to see us out in the marketplace, but that just seems like an odd placement. Is this part of a larger promotional partnership? In the Internet age, do people still use phone books?

Now if we had only bumped the accident lawyer off the front page...

Boy, I wish I could get that excited about nothing.

Nothing? Are you kidding? Page 73 - Johnson, Navin R.! I'm somebody now! Millions of people look at this book everyday! This is the kind of spontaneous publicity - your name in print - that makes people. I'm in print! Things are going to start happening to me now.

Johnson, Navin R... sounds like a typical bastard.

The MythBusters set out to test the myth that it is impossible to separate two interlocked phone books due to the massive amount of friction between the 800 pages of each book. They tried to pull the two phone books apart with human power, which was unsuccessful. A pair of cars also failed at pulling the phone books apart. Finally, the MythBusters resorted to using an M551 Sheridan light tank and an M113 armored personnel carrier, which were able to pull the phone books apart. While the myth was busted, the MythBusters pointed out that it took 8,000 pounds of force to pull the phone books apart, meaning that you could literally hang two full size cars from it.
