SMU head coach June Jones announced his team's 2011 recruiting class Wednesday, and the Mustangs' back-to-back bowl appearances appear to have made an impact, as SMU signed a class that is widely hailed as the school's best in decades.
PonyFans.com is proud to present its 2011 Recruiting Roundup, with the most in-depth profiles and interviews with the newest Mustangs anywhere. From the first commitment, offensive tackle Kris Weeks, to the players who resisted last-minute recruiting overtures from BCS programs, find out everything you need to know about the next generation of Mustangs.
(Jones was out of town and technical difficulties derailed a teleconference; his comments will be added when they are made available.)
Enjoy!

Thanks! There were a number of things I learned from the write-up, i.e. we have a number of scholars, our 4* is only 16! and we have a defensive lineman that wants to study film...enjoy!

I was surprised to see that Wimbley is already 280. When I saw video of him he looked a lot thinner-maybe 255. Whatever his weight was in the video it looked like he could potentially play MLB like his coach said. Maybe it was his single digit number

His HS coach said Wimbley got up to 285 after his JUNIOR year. So technically, he's down to 280 lbs. now.

Thanks .... and good catch.
No, we have not (yet) developed psychic powers, nor have we quite broken through on the whole time-travel project (although SmooPower is hard at work on it, so I assume he'll have the wrinkles worked out before the weekend). It's some kind of a default setting in the story posting system.

I say this every year, and I'll keep saying it. Great job and thank you for the recruiting roundup. It's one of my favorite reads every year.
What stood out to me was Levingston listed Oregon as one of his favorite schools and turned them down to be a Mustang! Amazing

Another Fantastic roundup. My only question regards the missing writeups on the coach's comments and interview of Stephon Sanders. Are these coming at a later time?
Overall, however, your summaries are FAR superior to the pay services that I subscribe to. Not that they don't do a good job but their summaries don't have the in-depth interviews with the player's coach and the player's themselves that you have provided.

Coach Jones's comments have been added to the overall story and player profiles. Enjoy!

Thanks PP. Also I think Nyle had been playing wr all his hs career but had to be switched to rb this year only because of the need at his new hs.
