Southern Methodist University Salary Data

FINALLY something interesting to read in the Daily Campus

For those not statistically inclined there are some nice illustrations showing discrepancy in salary between the highest paid individuals at SMU using circles of various sizes.

and what did I take away from this? we're still paying Phil Bennett... $21,500 in deferred compensation.

of the bonus and incentive compensation the Administration was given ~98% of the pie.
($517,000)
Athletics coming in to 2nd place with ~ 2%.

That's fascinating to me. My sister is a professor (not at SMU) who thinks that all athletic departments get all of the money they want or need because "sports are all schools care about." I'll try to help her re-channel her frustration toward the administration rather than the athletic department (which, from what I have seen, is in dire need of more resources, not rolling in money, as she seems to think).

another on this board mentioned to me that Harp was the #14 in the state recruit his class...I'm assuming that's at his position

Those tax returns make for some interesting reading. SMU has it's hands in a lot of pies. Wish I understood more of what is in there.
