Preferred walk-ons

Post by PonyPride »

Found out about some preferred walk-ons for the upcoming season - there may be more, but I gather these are enrolled for the second session of summer school. The information listed for each player is the result of the magical mystery that is google.com, so there's a chance players have grown, gained weight, etc. In one case, there were multiple players with the same name, so call it an educated guess (and apologies if the wrong player was selected). Obviously, there is more information available for some players than others. Also, there are a few players who played multiple positions in high school - not sure which position they were recruited to play at SMU.

I recently met a La Tech signee. 6' 1" 265 lbs DT. Short and soft is the best I can say with slow feet (met him dancing so got to see what his feet really could do). At best a work in progress OL. There is no doubt that JJ and his staff are recruiting much, much better players. And to think at one time La Tech owned us.

I'd expect that most if not all of these walkons are getting at least some academic scholarship money, if not full rides.

I read somewhere that 75% of SMU students are on some scholarship help. If true, that is surprising.

LB Keller Adams looks pretty good, but when Maxpreps.com says #2 LB in the state, I assume they are talking about #2 in 2A in the state...WR Luke Moffit and the guy from Truckee, California are also good athletes. Be interesting to see if some of these guys can make the team.
