See the article on Yahoo Sports above. This is rich! Read this and consider whether or not Oregon fixes an athletes grades before and after they arrive. How can a recruit that fears passing the TAKS test, then moves to Arkansas so as to avoid it and then makes All Pac 10 Academic? This is too good an article to miss!
"James transferred a few miles over the border and was eligible after signing with Oregon in February 2008."
"[Kelly] was basically like, ‘That was a great idea’ (moving to Arkansas to avoid the TAKS test) … you know, to make sure [James] got it done," Lyles said.
"Last season, James rushed for 1,731 yards, scored 24 touchdowns and finished third in voting for the Heisman Trophy. He was also named to the Pac-10 All-Academic team."
Let's start with academic fraud, paying agents, and lying to the NCAA.

The Arkansas public high schools have a lot of problems in many areas. We have so many Superintendents on payroll in the state, I think they actually work for the Department of "Hire" Education.

You know I wonder-has SMU ever had a kid not pass the TAKs test? We keep focusing on SAT/ACT/GPA under the NCAA sliding scale but forget that a kid might have flunked TAKs too. Technically, a recruit could be a "full qualifier"* and still flunk the TAKs
* I realize that a full qualifier has to have a high school degree

What is that old story about the two Arkansas brothers?
One won a bass boat and decided to keep it even though he and his wife lived over 3 hours from a lake.
His brother comes over and sees him "fishing" in his boat parked in the middle of his corn field. "Damn, it is people like you that give people from Arkansas a bad name"
"If I could swim I would come out there and beat the hell out of you!"

Do you guys realize how much more you guys talk about this [deleted] than anyone else? Like 5% of the kids that play college revenue sports deserve to be in an actual college, much less a legit curriculum. Big deal, move on. Lots of dummies in sports...revolutionary.

Never met a great athlete in any sport, and I have met many at the highest pro/international level, who was a dummy. They are great because they have the work ethic and the smarts to understand the sport and what is expected of them to excel.
