These guys were not highly rated out of high-school and some were walk-ons. Wait a few years before you call somebody GREAT or Ridicule them...

I see 2 Four Stars and 6 Three Stars under the Old UNINFLATED Rivals rating system. The new Rivals system inflates the number of 3+ stars by as much as 80-100%. Most of those kids would be 5.7 at least under the new system-several more would be 3 stars under current system. In the 2006 Class SMU signed 2 Three Stars and in 2007 4 Three Stars total -TCU kicked our [deleted] in recruiting and on the field. Why don''t you go back and check how much I praised TCU's recruiting during the years they came to TCU. That TCU 2006 Class was ridiculously underranked and I was one of the few to say it at the time-

You don't want to have this argument, you'll lose.

Jeremy Kerley was a highly rated 4 star players coming out of high school and arguably one of the most valuable players on the team if mot the most valuable. A true game breaker for TCU. It does seem like the TCU's coaches are a bit more aggressive in recruiting than most of ours. But that is just my opinion.

Pretty sure he found a fifth star to bring with him whenever he played us.

LOL. Yep, when schools start getting 4 or 5 star talent at a school it's not a lot of difference between the two, both tend to be impact players. Glad we are starting to see more 3 star kids come to SMU. Maybe we can catch aTm off guard this year while they my be overconfident. BEAT aTm.

so what's the point of this thread? to compare our class to TCU's 5 years ago?

this is stupid.

That a pretty nicely rated class. Definitely a good looking recruiting class from the start IMO.

actually TCU got 5 players out of the Rivals Texas Top 100 in 2006 although two don't graduate until 2011-more if you count the kids that really didn't contribute-the Renfro kid for example. The 2011 graduates are Wayne Daniels who made some All-American teams and Braylon Broughton. When is the last time SMU had 6 Texas Top 100 players to develop? The next time we do-if ever- we'll probably do just fine. SMU barely offered 6 Texas Top 100 kids

SMU would love to have two 4 start kids in the class and the rest be mostly 3 star kids.

That's actually a pretty nice point to make, although I'm sure it will draw the ire of a few.

Malcolm Williams, Jason Teague & Jeremy Kerley were all highly regarded out of high school with many options. But so is Gabriel Marks.

The rest of the guys on this list were recruited by CUSA & the bottom of the Big 12. In similar demand to many SMU recruits right now. In terms of competing offers and the choices a recuit had, I would say that TCU's recruiting then was better than SMU's recruiting now - but not that big of a difference.

I would say that it is TCU's player development that got those guys into the NFL, not anything they brought with them out of highschool.
