First we heard Boise Navy to BE football only, SMU UH UCF all sports.
Then CUSA/MWC merged for football.
Now Boise may be backing out on the BE, and BE might totally fold in shame.
Still waiting on that SEC deal

If Boise/AF stay in MWC, we take the merger. If they go BE, we go BE.

But other than that, nothin.

I say go Big East either way. Any shot at an AQ Conference must be accepted. Think about the basketball implications.

either way, at least we're in the game. would hate to be ECU or USM right about now. praying for some cosmic alignment of stars

Agreed. No matter what, I think it would be very difficult for BCS to toss out an entire conference once in. Big East, as it appears now, has political clout.

All those TV sets in the Northeast, Dallas, and Houston mean something toward a new Big East TV contract. No Brainer, SMU TO BIG EAST !

BE basketball coming to dallas will do more for our 'brand' than anything. we will get casual basketball fans out. high school kids. they start following SMU hoops b/c of who we're playing and they become fans of the school as a whole. football will benefit from that.

Basketball could be rockin'. We become a much easier sell to recruits.

will be tough to recruit like BE schools do. our standards are much higher. but we fought that battle with football. basketball might be even easier b/c you're talking at most 4-6 lower than our current standard to really be on a level field, so 1-2 per year. not that big an impact when spread over an entire entering class of 2000.

and with hoops, you only need that one.

didn't we beat memphis the last couple times they came to SMU? that can't hurt us in the eyes of the BE bb schools too.
