http://www.therepublic.com/view/story/F ... U_6311736/this is a tough one.
boise obviously is the key. without them the be is just another non aq conf.
the bloated big 22 is a sitting duck for anyone needing some spare parts.
if 16 team conferences become the order of the day we may regret a big payout to to the big east.
the sec, big 10, acc, big 12 and pac 12 are going to need some more teams eventually.
i like our chances to get into one of them at some point.
i know everyone is impatient for something great to happen to smu but i'm not sure the big east is it.

i like the pub, but this last line basically says, "i don't know anything more than anyone else who reads espn.com"
That comment could very well apply to SMU.

Can't regret this move. It's the right move. We are going to be in a better position if need be in the next shuffle. Hell, in two years an undated season might mean a title shot not just a BCS birth. I know don't get ahead of ourselves but that possibility is now there where it never was before.

yep. east is the way to go.
i'm going to expand on this a little. TCU to the Big12 was to preserve market share over the state. not b/c TCU added to the conf. if a BEast invite becomes formal, we might hear from the B12 shortly thereafter. they might wait until we join, just so we have to pay the $10MM to show how bad we really want it, but that's easy money for us to cough up.
we may be big12 by 2012. remeber this post.

would you go to the be without boise?
i can see going with them but not without.
lots of loose ends here. loserville uconn rutgers and wvu could all bolt.
that said i think we will take the offer provided boise goes.

You will easily be able to put together a Conference of 12 strong Eastern/Southern schools in better markets.
SMU
Houston
Southern Miss
UCF
USF
East Carolina
Louisville
Cinncinatti
West Virginia
UCONN
Rutgers
Temple
---------
or
Tulsa
Memphis
Navy

Sec will get to 14. My guess is they'll take an acc team. Which will allow uconn to leave. And I say good riddance. Don't bring much in football and replace em.with Memphis. Id rather see.pastner than calhoun

the be wants boise to maintain their aq status.
