I would bet a large sum of money that after last year's Dallas bowl game disaster this won't happen. June is going to take the crew to Hawaii if he can.

We are seeking respect and they only way we get that is by beating a BCS school in a bowl game, a big name (Penn St, Nebraska, Georgia, Miss St).....not by beating the WAC representative in Hawaii. I don't understand why JJ doesn't get that.

Nothing grabs peoples attention than beating a well known and respected team. Even if it is the #7 Big Ten team, it will be a team lots of people know and casual fans see as being a legitimate win. Would be great to start next season as the team that last beat: Michigan, Nebraska, Iowa, Pen, etc in a bowl.

Don't think beating Fresno in the Hawaii Bowl would have the same impact.

Not enough SMU people care to even show up for an important conference game against UCF on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. So if so few students and fans show up and aren't able to fill 1/2 the stadium who cares about respect? This after the biggest win since the mid 80's and nationwide positive publicity. Lousianna Lafayette had 32,000 for their home game......against UNT! The SMU players and coaches and ardent supporters deserve better but the SMU nation doesn't. They need to move to the Sunbelt Conference and the BLVD will still be great. That is what SMU is most proudest of anyway. And the NEw ORleans Bowl awaits.

What have you seen from Orsini, Turner, SMU Board of Trustees, Jones, etc that makes you so sure that he doesn't decide on this stuff? I see new lights, new mascots, new unis, new facilities, setting up new majors, relaxed admissions standards, weird new relationships with Navy and other service academies, no blue unis, and specific involvement from the CoC and other vested donors that make me think he probably gets what he wants.

The last bowl was in Dallas, we got beat, attendance this year is meh...if we end up in a BCS conference June is gonna be in Hawaii if he has any influence on it. Hawaii is a stated team goal. Why should they play in Dallas "for the fans" when those fans don't even show up on Saturdays? Because the hardest core Pony Fans think the only way to earn respect is to play Nebraska or the six seed from the SEC? I think the last Hawaii game worked out pretty well for the school and they'll be eager to do it again.

Because the TicketCity Bowl pays more for the right to select first.

And you really think they'd go w/ SMU even though we stink it up attendance wise? That ones at the Cotton Boel, right? Would be cool.

The only problem I would have with Ticket City and it honestly is my only problem is that I really do not think it is fair to the kids, especially the seniors to have 2 straight bowl games in Dallas. If CUSA did not distribute the bowl money equally I might think otherwise, but the kids deserve a change of scenery. Selfishly I would rather not have Hawaii and I definitely would like the Liberty Bowl, but we should hope they get a trip somewhere out of town.
