Has the University or Athletic Dept. ever tried a SMU Walk of Fame. Meaning selling etched paving stones for walkways around the campus, with alumni, students, SMU family, donors, instructors, etcs., with names and dates or whatever on the pavers. You could have a Greek section, a football section, basketball, swimming, soccer, etc. Heck an area could be designated a memorial site with remains (cremated) buried, perhaps Perkins Chapel's floor, much like Westminster Abbey. Obviously zoning for this would have to be addressed. The stones or one could use bricks would be used to build any future structure on campus.

The money will come one of 2 ways. A donor writes a check, or we go back in the black operationally. We're operating at a deficit that the school doesn't want to fund any more. Orsini has reduced the deficit DRAMATICALLY. He is doing great at this, but it's one of those things that outsiders don't always see.
If we get in BE, the deficit will disappear immediately. Then we can resume this discussion.

There are at least 10 different "buy a brick" things around campus.
