How does the average compare with the other conferences?

That's pretty damn good. 7 teams in the top 50 and two more that are right on the cusp of Top 50. Also Louisville won't stay down forever. They'll bounce back.

I know that it's not even a real conference yet, and that rankings are not worth the paper they are written on...

but if I had told you in the middle of 2007 that we'd be in a BCS conference, and were expected to finish second in our division and third overall in 2011... you'd have wet your pants laughing.

We have a long way to go, but don't lose sight of how far we've come.

Just off the top, that looks better than the ACC and about the same as the Big 10.

I have calculated a simple average of predictor rankings for the following conferences as they will look with adjustments: SEC (add A&M), Big 12 (subtract A&M, add TCU), Big East (subtract Pitt and Syracuse, add the rumored 6), ACC (add Pitt and Syracuse), plus the other two BCS conferences.

Big 12 adjusted.......... 35.2
SEC adjusted............. 37.2
Big East adjusted........ 44.6
Pac-12..................... 47.4
Big 10..................... 51.5
ACC adjusted............ 56.9

Big East adjusted ranks 3rd. If this holds up I cannot wait to see the spin from the talking heads and other conferences.

Why exactly are they using Sagarin Rankings? Why not use AP? Honestly, Houston should be ranked higher than us

Well it could be because sagarin (or other computer models I suppose) rank every team, while if they used AP they could only show the list for the top 25 plus the other handful of teams that receive votes so you would not see the whole conference.

Feel free to compile the list with another ranking system that you prefer.

I'm not sure if there are any subjective rankings of all 121 schools, but CBSSports does its own computer-based ranking where the polls have no impact on it (making it dissimilar from BCS, but still useful).

New Big East schools rankings are:
Boise - 2
Houston - 10
WVU - 21
SMU - 28
Rutgers - 30
Cincy - 38
USF - 42
UCF - 67
UConn - 80
AFA - 82
USNA - 84
Louisville - 94

Using the revised conferences that the OP did, here's the rankings based on this poll

Others:
1. Big XII: Mean - 33.4, Median - 34.5
2. SEC: Mean - 40, Median - 29
3. Big East: Mean - 48.2, Median - 40
4. B1G: Mean - 49.2, Median - 33.5
5. ACC: Mean - 53.9, Median - 51
6. Pac 12: Mean - 55.3, Median - 55.5

So the Big XII is obviously the best conference in CFB this year from top to bottom. SEC is obviously 2nd best. While the Big Ten has better teams at the top, the Big East overall would be a stronger conference because of the lack of any true bottom-dwellers like Minnesota or Indiana. The ACC and the PAC 12 are just bad in every aspect this year.

Sorry, too long I'm sure, but interesting.
