Is CUSA a better choice if UL and/or WVU leave?

I'm thinking that the Big 12 holds the trump card and will play it when Missouri leaves. UL, UC, and WVU could all go to the Big 12. If that happens, then the coalition looks better to me than the remaining Big East.

Air Force, Navy, Boise State, Houston, and UCF + a lot more money + AQ > C-USA without UCF/Houston

Not really. The remaining Big East would consist of Rutgers, UCONN, and USF. Add the best from MWC and CUSA and it is a better conference with fewer mouths to feed. Additionally, it is a huge upgrade in terms of basketball. Not to mention, TV money is much better.

What if UConn goes to the ACC and RU somehow goes to the B1G? We would essentially be in a conference that is all Catholic and they are in control. I'm thinking that at this point BE football is dead.

still better b/c we drop the dead weight of cusa and mwc. we just invite them to new big east (ecu, usm, temple, etc.)

the goal is to keep moving up. we're on the verge of an AQ conf. there's no guaranty that the merger will bring an AQ, and even then, to get the bid, you would have to win division, play conf. champ game, then play the merger champ game. then go to BCS bowl and divide revenue from 1BCS game among 22 schools (rather than 10-12).
so, no, CUSA is not a better choice

The MWC-CUSA merger is worthless without Boise, AFA, UCF, and Houston. The only way it would be better than the Big East is if everybody stayed, and then we added any Big East leftovers after the Big 12 expands, like USF and Cinci.

Its an upgrade. Also, I don't think any of the Big East teams are leaving anytime soon. I think Neinas and UT will go full court press after BYU.

I hope you're right. I don't see why Louisville, Cincy or WVU would want to go to the Big 12. They will become afterthoughts.

1.5 million in CUSA
25 million in Big East even if for 2 years

You're forgetting the exit fee for CUSA. And we probably couldn't join the BE until 2013. Would we still get 25 million? Not to mention higher travel costs and the loss of long time rivals Rice, Tulane, and Tulsa.

Perhaps the people on this board are not objective enough to look at the big picture.
