Southern Miss isn't taking Saturday's game against SMU lightly. The author calls the game the biggest of USM head coach Larry Fedora's tenure in Hattiesburg, maybe in program history. Defensive end Cordarro Law calls it the biggest game of his career and says the Mustangs look like the best team the Golden Eagles have faced this season.

Interesting. No doubt we are going to get their best shot, and they are a talented team.

What Law does best is rush the passer. He leads the Eagles with four sacks. Law believes getting to SMU quarterback J.J. McDermott will be critical.
"They like to take a lot of shots down the field," Law said. "We can't give them time to do that."
this is what I was seeing as key.

same thing UCF said. our big boys up front take care of that.

I do trust the o-line to do a good job but this will be a lot tougher than UCF.

ok, saw this on a buddy's facebook page. look at the skillet, then look at me, now back at the skillet, then look to the right. See that BIG BOY BEACHUM? they're all that big. and they're damn good.
(and upon preview of course it cuts half of him off, but you still get the idea)

same thing i was thinking. if you remember, the UCF QB had only 1 TD pass coming into that game, but he had 8 or 9 rushing. we seemed to keep him in check.
I'm not saying we're going to go in there an own these guys like we did UCF, but I definitely like our chances in this game. i think we win by 10.

i didn't realize Der'rick Thompson was that tall. Parks is 6'1" if i recall correctly, and he looks about an inch taller than Der'Rick.

It's time for Pony Nation to show some confidence. I know we, in the past, have been let down over and over and over again. But I think we've turned a corner. After a big TCU victory we came out and played. We weren't flat, we were well prepared, and we executed. Beating a team many experts and fans thought would be a nail biter in blow out fashion. This week I'm confident. We are the better team. When we show up to play and execute like we can this is going to be a double digit game in our favor. We only can slow ourselves up with mistakes.

agreed, ED4life.
our guys know that they can win if they play together and leave it all on the field.
i don't think they're cocky, thinking all they have to do is show up. but they KNOW that they can play with ANYONE. they know that all the breaks don't have to go their way in order to get a W these days. something bad happens, they get past it and just try to get better. they don't pout and droop their shoulders. they man up and go hit somebody. hard.
soon enough, the general student body and other casual fans are going to take notice of this. that's when we'll start seeing butts in the seats. we all know that those on this board aren't part of that problem. most of us put the "fanatic" back in "fan".
go ponies! derail the golden eagles!
