Big thread on Killerfrogs (sorry no link pain on phone) abd FWST article saying SEC and TCU talked and TCU turned down when big12 came calling.
Who turned down who doesn't matter-shows SEC wants in DFW and small private is OK

seems unlikely TCU would turn dowm SEC which is a stable conference. Big 12 might fall apart in the near future.

seriously? you don't think the SEC already has an "in" to the "DFW market" with A&M on board and the potential A&M vs Arkansas game to be played in Dallas every year?

Playing games in Dallas has many advantages. Enough advantages? We'll see.

FWIW the Ark/A&M game in Dallas will probably end after 2012. They need to use it as a home stadium game now that they are in the same conference. But yes, the SEC has a foothold in Dallas just by being the best conference in football.

seems pretty clear we are not #14, but if they go to 16, they could do worse than having a week in and week out presence in Dallas.

One never knows. The SEC knows it can move into the Dallas market on its timing. TCU is gone. UT isn't going to let us into the Big XII-II-I+I. So the SEC can sit back and see if adding the Dallas market to its product is needed or not over the next couple of years.

SEC has it's Georgia vs Florida game always played in "neutral" site in Jacksonville. It could be the start of a tradition with those 2 schools

It is a little different with Arkansas. They already play 2 or 3 games a year in Little Rock including at least one conference game. Now they would be playing 2 conference games out of Fayettville. They can drop Little Rock, which I think they may do, but there are some big donors that would be very mad. They are expanding Fayettville and they really want the income from playing at home. I am pretty certain they are going to change A&M to home and home but it is still up in the air. Decision is supposed to be made soon.
If they do go home and home with A&M they may be looking for someone else to play in Dallas. If we get into an AQ I would like to play them.

the TCU thing is not true - they would not turn it down to go big 12 - for the same reason Missouri is leaving - about a 7-10 M difference in payout.
We arent going to the SEC. We are going to the BE.

Vanderbilt would probably vote for a small private school in the western division to be their whipping boy counter part, but beyond that...
