UPDATE: According to Laken Litman, the SMU beat writer for Scout.com, the Big East is finally set to make its move.
Litman tweeted, "SMU will get official Big East invite this week. Houston and UCF will too."
---
UPDATE: The first step for the Big East conference to truly more forward was voted in Monday. As reported by ESPN's Andy Katz, the league decided to up its exit fee from $5 million to $10 million for football members.
The team's first legitimate dip into the expansion pool is in sunny Texas.
Brett McMurphy of the CBS Sports reported, "Officials at Houston and SMU have both been contacted by Big East commissioner John Marinatto and have been told the league wants to discuss with them further about joining the league."
McMurphy also refuted an earlier report from the Houston Chronicle that the Big East has already extended an invitation to Houston. His same sources say the Cougars as well as SMU and UCF are already prepared to accept an invitation once officially extended.

I'm sorry, but I've been out in the wilderness (literally) the past week. Wasn't there a rumor of a BE/CUS/MWC merger?

End this endless speculation (not directed to this board or anyone on it, just a general venting of the rumor dominated process by the media).
Our teams needs to focus on winning this Sat. Nothing short of that including speculation about a conference change.

Right, our lack of focus last week is why the team played like crap on Saturday night.
