Who thinks it is time for JJ to stop wearing the goofy lei and get down to the business of moving the Stangs to the top 25? The whole lei thing was kind of cute at first but now it looks stupid. This is Texas football. We need our coach to support and enhance the student athletes. No gimics needed. Just coach to win and provide our team with the best equipment, staff, coaching and fan base. We are poised to take the leap into BCSville. Let's get it done. No lei needed. 30 thousand plus fired up fans would help too.

Seriously, shut up about the lei. It has nothing to do with football or attendance. At all.

Sounds just like everybody else looking for something to complain about. "oh the red and blue isnt the right color" " the players aren't wearing the same color undershirts" "I don't like the helmet stickers". No what these things have in common. Not one of them has anything to do with playing football. Read up on defensive and offensive schemes if you are looking to change something.

Given that he is coaching in Texas, I don't care for the lei but I don't think it matters either way. Pick your battles. I am very happy that we finally went to 2 consecutive bowl games after years of losing prior to his arrival on the hilltop. We are now taken seriously enough to be considered a viable boost to an aq league, albeit one that is in total despair. As long as he recruits well and we keep winning he can wear his leis. Frankly, if he wants to go to the Hawaii Bowl, now that it looks like we will be losing that opportunity in future years by going to the Big East so be it. I just hope we stick to our current uniforms, would prefer the striped pants, and stay away from black. A blue jersey every now and then would be awesome. Fire up the team with blue for the bowl game.

To complain about the lei seems like nit picking to me. I don't know why he wears the lei. Maybe it is good luck for him and we need all the luck we can get. Maybe the lei has some deep meaning for him. That is his business. I like his demeanor on the sidelines in contrast to others I could name. I think he and his staff represent SMU well and it seems as if the players benefit from the association with JJ and his staff. If I had a son playing for JJ, I think I would be happy. If he wants to wear a lei or a hoodie or a kilt, I don't care as long as SMU gets better.

Hey Lovein'SMU the leis will be here as long as JJ is at SMU. I met several of JJ's friends from Hawaii three weeks ago and they fly to our games all the way from Hawaii as friends/fans of JJ and are now fans of SMU football. The fresh leis are brought in as a gift and an honor to June and is bad karma or even an insult to the natives in Hawaii to NOT wear them. Get used to lei's as he only wears them when he has guests from Hawaii who bring fresh leis in. It's not his normal attire, and isn't a gimmick.
