Houston Hotel Reservation

I just canceled my hotel reservation. No sense driving that far for abuse, I can get that at home.

unfortunately this is typical of SMU fandom...a big part of why we are who we are

P.S. at least he/she made the reservation to begin with and was planning on supporting our team on the road. Not many do

Every game is an "away" game for me and to answer your question, I've only made one 1200 mile road trip so far this year (to see a game at Ford). Will be the 1st to admit that I don't regularly travel to see this team play. Wish I could afford to. Have been to see them in NC, at Navy, in Orlando...whenever they get within driving distance, but I'm a relatively poor SMU alum that can't jump a plane and travel every weekend. I don't pretend to be superfan, but I'm far more of a fan than too many of my classmates who live in Dallas and don't go to games unless I come into town and practically force them to.

When I lived in Dallas, I did have season tickets and took several road trips (Austin, Ft Worth, Houston, College Station, Waco, etc...)

Living in SEC Country, I've come to appreciate what hard core fans are all about. South Carolina has tons of them and Clemson travels well, too. I'm glad SMU has a couple hundred loyal fans who can afford to follow them around the country. Big East membership is not going to help in terms of how poorly we travel.

Anyways...back to the point of my original post...if the poster actually made reservations in Houston and had plans to go, it's disappointing that it all changes because we lose 2 games in a row. If I was still living in Dallas, Houston is a road trip I would make because I have two old friends living there that I would like to see and would get them to come out to the game as well.

Sorry the Tulsa trip was such a miserable experience

I have tickets for the Houston game in hand. I'm like the original poster and trying to figure out if I'll go or not.

Have friends who are UH fans, so we'll still be going mainly to see them, hang out in Houston for a day, and pray that we don't get slaughtered by the Cougs and the 12th year senior QB.

I'm not saying Houston isn't good, but remember who have they played that was stellar? No one, UTEP gave them a challenge in their game. An FCS team gave them a scare, I mean we just need to not over think this. Can we win? Not if we play last two game, if we play like we did against UCF and TCU with the same enthusiasm we can. I know people dont believe me, but I predict it will be a very close game between them in Tulsa, since Houston gets cocky when theyre ranked. All that matters, is how well do we play against Tulane and Navy, and how do we get the kids not to think upset, but rather revenge for the past years of not playing well against them.
