TRAVESTY IN TULSA

We were talking during pregame warmups, that the players body language looked bad, flat. For the last two weeks sitting behind our bench, I've noticed the team has been dead on the sideline. No fire, intensity, no players chattering or encouraging the others, zip. Some fans have said that they quit, well, you have to start before you can quit, and our boys never started. No excuses for this team getting dominated by friggin Tulsa. Totally disgraceful performance, the players should be as embarassed as the fans that spent the time, effort and money to see that trash. First time in three years, that we are out of the race before November. We got beat up in every phase of the game, and the disturbing part is, we didn't seem to mind the [deleted] kicking a bit. Our guys like to talk tuff, big bravado, "EAT", and all of that other crap, maybe if they stayed off twitter and facebook, they could put a little energy into the game. In our 3 loses we have been outscored 111--24. Time to see if these boys have any heart, and a need for jockstraps.

ALEX: I have wondered about that "EAT" thing the players mention. What does it mean?

You do like to see effort now and then.
Perhaps a first down, I'm gonna go way out on a limb here we might even catch a pass. Then if you lose and you really did the best you could you can keep your head up enough said.

Nice post Big Al. One word catches everything you said......Leadership. Who's the leader of this team? I don't think he was on the field the past 2 games....we suck. Houston, we are going to send our JV. Take it easy on them.

I gave them a pass on So Miss, that's a really good team....but I saw no effort, intensity or passion against Tulsa. It was embarrassing. One side note - I did see effort and passion out of J Davis for most of the game, which shouldn't surprise anyone.

the tulane game will let us know if this team has quit.
why would they?
this is insane.
we are going to an aq conference and the team quits.
makes no sense.
i honestly think that article about attendance really harmed this team. they haven't been the same since.
what that guy got so wrong is that there is a die-hard bunch of fans who love this team and have been with it through some very bad times.
we are poised to go to a bcs conference and will have a lot of band wagon jumpers get on board.
and now this. unbelievable.

On other theory has to do with the team being too beat up to be competitive after the USM game. Sometimes, a team is so strong and hits so much harder that it leaves the opponent too beat up to play the next week. USM may have done that too us. This isn’t injuries, but physically drained and can’t recover in just a week.

The 1982 SMU team was a classic example of this. Check the opponent’s records the week after playing SMU. They don’t just get beat, they get creamed. SMU was just so physical that opponents couldn’t recover from a game with SMU. There are some teams that don't leave injuies in thier wake but teams too beat up to recover in one week. USM may have been tht type of team for us.

Before we throw in the towel, let’s give these kids (which are playing the toughest schedule of their careers) a chance to recover, recoup and refocus on Tulane.

Here's another theory. Tulsa is good and, like USM, pis$ed off that we are leaving the conference.

Tough sports weekend in Dallas.

I thought they looked flat in pre-game warmups at TCU while TCU was in and out of pregame huddles and hustling with maybe the best pregame warmup i have ever seen! And look how we stormed out of the gate and whipped them! I think teams and kids are hard to read these days. Look at Pattterson compared to June. You have to be yourself and do what you do best or the players will see through you. This stretch of the schedule is brutal with almost every team either having a patsy or a bye week before we play them. Tulsa and USM are quality teams and were gunning for us! The injuries to our slots has slowed them down greatly and the other teams know that and the coaches have refused to play their backups, particularly Jeremy "big play" Johnson!. From a starring role against TCU to not playing hardly at all. Maybe he is hurt too.
