ecu has to get in sooner or later.
tulsa and southern miss are also good teams that deserve consideration.
i couldn't care less about nova and temple. not on my radar at this point. i'm sure i will hate both of them as time goes by.

Ecu will never get in

Nothing against ECU, but there is little reason to ever add them and if the BE needs them its not like they are going anywhere. Tulsa and USM may be good teams but there is a reason they went with SMU and Houston and not Tulsa and USM; terrible media markets and limited growth opportunities. Also BB schools probably want room for more quality BB programs so adding FB only programs will be easier.
Next up are probably BYU (FB only) and then Army (FB only?, which has already been asked but declined). Temple will get blocked by Nova. In a few years if Tulane puts up the money like SMU did, I could see them added.

i don't get tulane at all. they are on a par with rice in terms of commitment to sports. they were sort of getting it together when katrina hit. that really set them back. i don't know where they would put an on-campus stadium. i was there for the old miss game looking at the campus. they are land locked much more than we are. the super dome is not what they need.
usm is a victim of geography but i see them them as a team on the rise. the sec will never in a million years take them but imho they could become a bcs buster. they will have to beat down the door to get in.
tu probably has little to no chance. ou and osu dominate the state. too bad for them. they are a nice team that puts forth the effort to be good.

That would only make 13, remember WV, Pitt, and Cuse are leaving and they are adding AFA, Boise, Navy, SMU, UCF, and UH to make it 11. BYU should be added first so that there are 12. Nova will block Temple unless things get dire.

Why would the BE ever consider adding a carolina team --- between the 2 carolinas there are already 6 BCS schools (5 ACC, 1 SEC). Those markets are more than saturated. Also, ECU is awful.

They wont, but they will send emails.
BYU is probably next, but timing needs to be worked out for new teams entering and old teams leaving. Luckily BYU is indy and can join right away.

BYU is the golden ticket. Anything else would be a let down.....except Temple I guess? 12 will be good until big things happen in 2014.

BYU is obvious 1st choice for football only; Big East offers more bowl opportunities and AQ potential...that's the lure. If they say no, Temple for football only because they have quality hoops in A-10 and this would be a good compromise to appease Nova.
That makes for 12 football, 16 bball members by 2013 at the latest.
Down the road, Memphis and ECU as full members would be the logical expansion programs as 14 football and 18 bball remains workable.

Memphis only makes sense as BB only. They have zero commitment to having a viable fb program or attracting fans. They may fire a HC every few years for not winning but they don't change anything else.
