A good video interview with Big East Commissioner John Marinatto

Man, he really did hit every branch of the ugly tree when he fell out of it, didn't he?

He seems like a reasonable and thoughtful guy. I know he is getting slammed for the BE being in this situation but he was blindsided by several of these moves (Pitt, Cuse, and TCU for three). WV wanting to be gone next year for another.

great find, HB. He sounds like a stand-up guy in a very tough situation. I feel good about having him as our commissioner.

I got the impression that the formal invites may not go out until next week. Did anyone else get that feeling?

Yes I got the impression that next week the invitations will go out. He even said "over the course of the next couple of weeks." Why was everyone saying that Friday there will be a PC in New York City for the announcement of all schools? Sounds like its news to the commish. So this mess drags on yet another week.

The vague time-frame for rounding out to 12 sounds like time for BYU to sort out whether they want to come on board. If they were thinking Temple, Memphis, or ECU etc, there would be no such vague delay.

This mess drags on?? I get it, you're a glass half empty kind of guy but this has been the greatest and most interesting two months of being an SMU fan/supporter I can remember. We are on the verge of something most of thought was never going to happen, back in major college football. Is college football as a whole a mess? Sure, but that mess has allowed us to become relevant again. And do I want this to become official? Hell yes, but until it does, I'm enjoying the ride. Get over yourself and enjoy it for god's sake.

I still think some schools / most / announce on Friday, but I have been wrong before.

Marinatto has said that no formal invitations have been issued. I would love for us and the three others to announce it Friday but I don't think it will happen.

No "official" invites until the parties are ready. Boise is not ready until Thursday some time. At this point it is just a formality, they are sitting on the fax machine ready to go (or whatever technology)
