I find it amusing the defensive guru Baylor hired, Phil Bennett, is ranked #108th in the country in total defense.
RANK TEAM G OPP PLAYS OPP TOT YDS OPP TOT YDS/PLAY OPP OFF TD OPP TOT YDS/G
108 Baylor 7 496 3152 6.35 6.35 33 450.29

Hope he stays around at Baylor for the next 8 seasons. SMU-Baylor series starts next year as the season opener.

I never saw any evidence to suggest that that was the case. I recall him blaming his players for his own failures. There is no grace in that.
Bennett continually led his troops to slaughter. He was not performing charity, but in fact received generous compensation. I saw no evidence of coaching in his final season, with the team going 1-11. He was an employee doing the minimum to collect payment.
He is no longer here. Who are you sucking up to?

And now he is back "coaching" at a more appropriate level - 2A high school football.
