Considering an official announcement likely won't be made until early December, and considering factors including airfare (during holiday season and purchased on short notice), hotel availability and cost (same holiday/short-notice qualifiers), your own holiday/family plans, etc., how likely are you to be able to attend if SMU returns to the Hawaii Bowl?

Maybe the school will save some of those Mustang Club donations and treat fans to free trips?

I went in 2009 but will not make a Christmas trip again to Hawaii. I can afford the trip but it is the most expensive time of the year to get to Hawai, it is difficult to rearrange all the family obligations and overall it is just a tough, very long trip to make during the holidays. Think I will use the money to go skiing after Christmas.

How about a straight Yes or No poll? Anywho, NO is clearly favored on that debate. One thing I'm glad to say though is that SMU is bowl eligible with three games to go! I think that itself is a big improvement from the last two seasons. We didn't become bowl eligible last season until we beat Marshall, and even then it took beating ECU in OT to solidify a bowl invite. A win against Navy this weekend would be a BIG step forward for us, and give us a golden shot at atleast finishing 8-4. Who's to say we don't beat UH even? One thing I can say this season is we're getting out to faster starts, excluding our losses, than we have in recent history.

Yeah no kidding about the poll, Im glad people realize that the hawaii bowl is just a nuissance. However, since Orsini got us an invite to the BE, he should be the one to pick it for all his hard work. I mean he is our marketing department to other schools. If we go to the hawaii bowl, at least i can just look at my score tracker on my phone.

Ill be somewhere in the northern states for Christmas visiting 89 year old grandpa, and my family told me they couldnt watch the last hawaii bowl game for some reason. So Im assuming it will be the same situation. If I had the choice I would watch it even if disagree with the decision to go to hawaii.

One wonders how much the prospect of Hawaii every year affects out following. I understand the bowl is for the kids and agree that it is about them and should be. But going to bowls that most fans, including the ones that would go to a bowl if semi reasonable, can't attend might hurt with the fan base. Loved the AFB last year and so did my family. Get environment and it felt like a festive environment. Watching the Hawaii bowl was great for me but certainly the family den isn't the same as being there.
One of the reasons many follow a team is to feel good in a win. THe die hards follow regardless but we need the not so die hard. Give folks a chance to attend a post season game and experience a great environment is very much different for the fan than watching on TV.
Just wonder if the yearly prospect of Hawaii slightly diminishes the prospect for some fans to ump on the attendance band wagon. at this point.
