You gotta admit....a lot of good things have happened with SMU football since June Jones was hired. Although there are always the "tired" references from the media regarding the run and shoot, maybe his greatest value is in knowing how to build a successful program. Some similarities to Hayden Fry in that Fry was always thought of as an offensive innovator but it was his defenses at North Texas and Iowa that were mainstays of his teams along with his uncanny ability to hire coaches who later went on to be very sucessful along with bulding losing programs to sucess. Regarding playing academmy teams, media types always ask the same ?s about triple option but it has not been the offenses that give SMU trouble...it has been our ability to put up points on their defenses!

Interesting note about using the service academies as a marketing tool to get our name out there by co-opting their press coverage and existing interest. So we do have a marketing dept, the only problem is he also happens to be the HC.

The IPF can't get here soon enough.
