He's retiring at end of season. Not soon enough.

i think everyone in America agrees with you on this, except JoePa and a handful of students and trustees at Penn State.

was thinking about this earlier.

i'm going to disagree with you on this. here's why. they're going to HAVE to do a complete upheaval of the program. top to bottom. so he retires now. what then for the last 2 games and bowl? one of the assistants in the program? it's not like removing him now would cease questions at pressers. or media discussion.

there are still student-athletes on the team, and there's already enough of a total [deleted] going on to ruin their season, and probably some of their college playing careers (experience wise). don't go screwing with something else to make their lives more difficult. give those students-athletes at least a shred of stability to finish this season. (then let all the good ones transfer to SMU to play out their careers in the BE under June Jones)

*i hate joe paterno - this is ONLY thinking about the current players.
Ok this is getting ridiculous...I agree with Dutch on THIS ONE POST by him totally

well...based on the OP's factual statement (State Penn got natl title...we got hosed...JoPa gets golden parachute), is there anyone other than ThadFilms who should do the film on this despicable pattern that seems to have taken place on JoePa's watch?

I understand that it sucks for the players, but I don't think that sends the right message to them.

"Do something wrong, and we'll consider punishing you . . . after the season ends."

I would bet you that if a player at the school had condoned a statutory rape by being a silent witness, they would have suspended the player. Or worse.

it has to do with the fact that they want to have some sort of celebration to say thanks for the last 45 years, and the university just doesn't have the balls to say get the hell out of here NOW. i admire their loyalty to him, but it's severely misguided in this instance.

agreed.
to place the interests of the players and football program above those of the many innocent child victims is an affront to a sense of what is just. and, it is exactly that kind of consideration (ie, protect the players/program/coach at all costs), that precipitated the many poor decisions that has led to the present situation.

I think that's a good point, junior. They can call it misconduct or assault, but it is rape that was covered up, plain and simple. The grand jury found it not credible that the university authorities were unaware of the nature of the behavior.
