Doesnt this seem like interim Big 12 leader (also consultant to CUSA) trying to destroy our plans at a shot for BCS bowls. Especially if we cant even play till 2013. This could be a big blow since we will be playing harder teams but not getting the same respect to reach top 10 spots. What are y'alls thoughts?

Having glanced over the article it would appear the Cartel is manuvering to block, what they perceive to be, weaker football conferences (ACC and BIg East) path to a BCS bowl and allow the big four conferences, Big 12-2-1+1, Big 10+2, Pac 12 and SEC more than two teams into BCS bowls. No surprise. I think before it is all said and done this BCS mess will end up in front of the Supreme Court

Do you think after glancing over this article that SMU should continue with the Big East? I hate that the BCS contract is up like right when we go into it. Hopefully Orsini came up with an escape clause in the big east invite.

yes. always trend upwards. always. if big east falls apart in 3 years, we'll still be in a better position than any CUSA or MWC team.

take football out of the equation, and its still a good move for hoops.

It has been clear by the move of other conferences that they have been trying to kill off the BE for some time. Now they are not even hiding it. It is those conferences actions that have caused the BE to take the steps they are taking and now they are blaming the BE for what they have been forced to do, for not going away and dying quietly.

All they want is all the BCS bowls and $$ for themselves.


Having said that, we need to fight on. We will not go quietly into that good night!

Then i would say no, and only asked for thoughts. I was not holding a sign saying end of the world.

Even if something were to happen with AQ status in the Big East the money we will be getting from the Big East is so much more than CUSA we should stay in the Big East regardless.

Have never like idea of us moving to the BE (other than it being, for the time being, a BCS conference I don't see the benefit to us ... more money but what else?). We should, along with Boise and BYU (and possibly UH and Hawaii or Nevada or ?) move to the Pac16. Our game is better suited for that conference, the recruiting is better, the weather is better!, we could play in the Rose Bowl and I could get to more games.

Few implications, will the Big East have the lucrative TV deals and related bowls without the AQ attach to it. Also, would they even give us tier 1 tv rights considering they might just give the west conference tier 2.

Highly unlikely the PAC will ever expand nor add us. Obviously because we have a religious attachment and they hate conservative based schools. I hate the PAC anyways, other than being able to visit california, they are all bunch of politically correct, bleeding heart, loose moral idiots.
