Gregg Doyel article on this (before announcement McQueary will not coach). Interesting theory that they are keeping him on to testify against Joe Pa.

Likely. They aren't very good this year. Couldn't stop the Northwestern running game with their third string QB playing.

Osborne has also told traveling fans not to wear red to the game, out of safety concerns.

As someone on ESPN pointed out (Mark May I think), McQueary was the witness that saw Sandusky with the young boy in the football facility in 2002. McQueary was not some clueless student, he was a 28 year old man at that point, and yet he did nothing more than go home and mention it to his father. The next day he decided to tell Paterno and finally left it at that.

So after Paterno, Spanier, etc all get walking orders...this guy gets to COACH THE TEAM THIS WEEK?

BTW, ESPNU is currently airing "Penn State Special", scheduled for 4 1/2 hours...nothing but talking heads discussing this issue, phone interviews, etc. And they aren't beating around the bush, some of these guys are livid and using words like "disgusting" to describe PSU and associated people (and rightfully so, if you ask me). What a serious blow to the college football world, probably the biggest/worst scandal in the history of college sports.

Thought I may have made an error, but just double-checked. It doesn't say he isn't coaching the game, just won't be "on the sideline". ESPN mentioned that may mean he'll be up in the box.

Maybe someone will rape McQueary on the 50 yard line while everyone watches and does nothing. Would serve the son of a [deleted] right.

I've never known another sports scandal that involved just plain evil actions. Disgusting, immoral, slimy, yes. But evil? Not until now.

this report does not say he won't be coaching. he just won't be on the sideline.
he could be up in the coaching box.

Baylor Basketball is the closest in my opinion where the athletic department conspired to conceal a murder. The big difference here is that the PSU conspired to cover up a crime one of their own committed. Dave Bliss was covering up someone else's crime.

Clearly a murder is terrible, but a single murder seems like nothing compared to a decade of raping dozens and dozens of innocent children.

and knowing that the guy is running a goddamn camp for children? and you still do nothing? this makes me so sick for humankind.

also, that was a one-time, really bad event.
penn state situation is a long-running, repetitive scenario that required multiple individuals to continually conceal the secret.

you might have to change it back, if they decide to block him altogether.

if it were up to me, I'd try to keep McQueary employed somewhere in the university system, just to minimize the chances of him 'disappearing' like that DA did in 2002.
if he does disappear, that could deal a significant blow to the prosecution of all those involved. in fact, maybe they walk.
