June Over-rated?

You have the CUSA leading rusher, all the mo, the ball on Navy's 4 with two downs to score, the most experienced offensive line in football, and you say to yourself - what we need to do here is put our defensive ends in as wideouts and throw...
awful - and then when we get close again we decide to put McDermott at wide out - and think about a wildcat we have never used. But wait - lets just show it to them and then call time out.
and why can his staff not figure out the triple option that 6 other teams have figured out this year? - For the fourth year in a row.
Clock management was horrible. Play calling was ridiculous. We spotted them the 1st quarter and fourth quarter.
This one is on June. Hope he takes responsibility. Not sure he didnt throw it just to make sure we go to Hawaii - not kidding.

We played it as well as anyone else has this year. the teams that have beaten Navy have outscored them.

not buying that. They had 4 yds anytime they wanted it.

this staff and/or these players haven't been able to handle Navy, but Navy moves the ball and scores against much better defenses than ours
the offense is disappointing this year and is the main reason we are not improved compared to the last 2 years

Our offense sucked the same it has in any loss this year.
I hope Hawaii gets two more wins so we can get this Hawaii/SMU bowl game over with.
This season is a wash anyways.

His offense is just pitiful. And considering how everyone perceives him some offensive genius it amazes me that he hasn't implement a HUPO offense as does Houston. So miss, and tulsa. Having McDermott throw on 3rd and 2 and then 4th and 5 is just absurd. And you're right, it seems like clock/timeout management always kills us in the end.

Navy rushing yards in their 6 losses (yards per rush):
South Carolina - 274 (5.

Air Force - 334 (5.3)
Southern Miss - 421 (6.9)
Rutgers - 162 (3.5)
ECU - 284 (5.6)
Notre Dame - 196 (3.9)
Compare to SMU: 335 (5.2)
Rutgers and Notre Dame were the only two teams better than us.

We were not going to catch Houston or Tulsa anyway. I do not believe he did this to go to Hawaii because that is where we were going anyway.

in total yds - which is what counts - every team did better then us but one. You made my point for me. Rutgers - not exactly a power house - held them to less then half of what we did.

More like USM was the only team that did worse than we did in holding them in total yards.

Agree w 86. More yds = more plays = can't get off the field on 3rd down.
What lost the game though is 1stvand goal from 6 and the series where we didn't convert from their 21 on 4th..no points both times

Those other teams kept scoring which forced Navy to pass. It has nothing to do with defensive success.

How can SMU fans (us) expect the City of Dallas (non-SMU fans) to embrace us when we put a crappy product on the field like we have against Navy, USM and Tulsa? No one needs to [deleted] about attendance until we can show that we deserve their consideration and dollars by putting an exciting and consistently winning team on the field. JMHO.
