6-6

Last week I still thought we could go 8-4. Now I have accepted we will probably be 6-6. Dont think we beat Rice. Rice had the same record as Navy at the beginning of the day, and beat a BCS team that is 5-5 and just beat Ohio State. Plus it seems like Rice always plays a good game against us.

would be certainly possible. limping into a bowl game w/ 3 straight losses.

If they finish 6-6, watch out. We might not go to a bowl. That win over NW St may come back to haunt us. Once the season is over and all 6-6 teams get evaluated, those having a Div 1-AA win will be second tiered and if they aren't enough invite to go around for second tirs, we get left out of a bowl. We need to finish 7-5. 2 chances to get 1 win. Hard to realistically expect us to beat Houston at Houston though, so Rice is a must.

Pretty sure the NCAA got rid of that rule that had 7 win teams placed before 6 win teams. That's how Temple got left out of bowl last year at 8-4.

That's what I've been saying for a while. Everyone seems so confident against Rice... there's no reason to think that Rice is a guaranteed win whatsoever.

No Navy was a 3-6 team that lost 4 games on the last play-they was never really that much of a drop-off in their game-they just didn't pull off some close games-I watched most of them. SMU will beat Rice on defense

Where are you getting you information? Have never seen anything about a FCS win making you "second tierd." Also 2010-2011 season saw the take all 7 win teams before you can grab a 6-6 team rule eliminated. This resulted in Temple going 8-4 but not going to a bowl.

A very real possibility. We REALLY needed to beat Navy. We aren't GUARANTEED a bowl game. I don't think this team understands the urgency ("cool, we got into another bowl game ... let's not kill ourselves now ..."). The coaches have to step that up but at the end of the day we have to play who we have on the team and, with some exceptions, we still have .500 caliber talent moreso than not ... best scenario is we man up against Rice and beat them convincingly (showing some pride and anger from getting embarrassed by Houston) and then take that momentum into the bowl game ... tonight, I'm not feeling very optimistic ...

BTW, man, I really wish we could get Moreland on this team ... I really liked his attitude in some of the interviews I saw and he seems to have that JG type motor we need for pass rushing ... the new breed of recruit ... Marks seems to have the same type spirit ... that attitude, coupled with their talent, is what gets this team over the hump ... only problem is we need about 4-5 of them in every class for about 3 years straight and the rest all 3 star type level talent </completely random comment>.

No necessarily guaranteed a bowl game if we win 7. Bowls do not have to choose 7 or more win teams before 6 win teams anymore. Last year, Temple went 8-4 and did not get a bowl game. Will come down to final conference standings, CUSA tie ins, and what teams bowls prefer. Obviously 7 wins would help, but nothing is guaranteed. Junes connection to Hawaii not looking so bad anymore.

Any word if Moreland's scores are up to par to enroll in the spring? Oct SAT scores are already out and Nov scores will be out near the end of the month.

I think we've been here before; need to beat Rice to lock down a bowl invite...hope our goal line offense can get it done this time around

We don't need to beat Rice to lock down a bowl invite, 7 wins doesn't mean any more than 6 wins. We have 2 bowls in Dallas with C-USA tie-ins and a June/C-USA tie-in to the Hawaii Bowl. We will be in a bowl game.

The rule is that bowls with conference tie-ins must take teams from that conference with 7 or more wins before they take a team with 6 wins. That has always been the rule. Temple didn't get a bowl game because the MAC didn't have enough tie-ins.

From 5-1 to 6-6 would certainly be a BIG disappointment. With the TCU/UCF type game, attitude and execution, we would have beaten Navy.
