OK here it is-go ahead and laugh-you'd be wrong-but go ahead-how do Navy and Air Force go to bowls every year and now Army too. Because they can enlist unlimited numbers w/o NCAA scholarship limitations and run about 300 kids through their Varsity and Prep School program. The percentages are lower but you run enough kids through your program and you can consistently go to a Bowl. We've had this argument for a decade and they are still going to bowls every year under multiple coaches. If they had to abide by NCAA scholarship limitations they would be lucky to win 3 games just like before Air Force perfected the Model on how to get it done

Great. Navy has 10 more (2-star) recruits each year compared to SMU. We have more talent at any given time on the field. They get to bowls because they run offenses designed to get 4-5 yards per play. To win, you out-score them. >50% don't.

Yeah I'm really known as a huge homer. The point is most schools take 25 a year. Navy and Air Force run 75-80 through their two programs-the Academies and their Prep School where about 50% of their starters begin their careers.

Again, who has more 3+ stars, SMU or Navy? I hate pimping recruiting stars but the point is, we are more "talented" in every single phase.

Yeah but the guys they recruit are normal (good grades and not thugs). The academy's play with true well rounded humans, my hat goes to them

Have to go with Banjo, there is no point in giving scholarships to "free" education (requirement of serving military later) defeats the purpose of giving scholarships. Since people that are true athletes dont want to go through the military, so i mean its fair. Even with limited choices, we should be able to recruit better since they can progress in society, whereas military gets awhole bunch to go through but not many star athletes want to go through the military. Also I really could careless if they give our military a little perk... and they are more educated and discipline than the average joe athlete.

The majority of SMU's heralded Senior class had no significant offers-several got the AF, Navy type because they offer about 200 per year. The exceptions Banjo, Thompson, Lereibus and Brooks. I'm not that surprised we are struggling this year-I thought we have 7-5 talent and I'm sure of it now. June Jones will become a better coaches as Klemm recruits better players and the better classes become the leaders of the team

Whatever, my point is: the better team underperformed today. Same was true last year and the year before. You can "but they have 200 offers" all you want, still doesn't change the fact that we had bigger, stronger, more respected athletes out there in every phase. Out-willed and out-schemed and underperformed.

The better team has won all these games. Navy has beaten a long list of better teams than SMU

This..... It just sux sitting thru games like this one until then. I think we're still 2 years away from 10 win roster. We just have too many guys on the field who need to be recruited over. Next season will likely be like this one. Brace yourselves.
