it's good that SMU fans finally have expectations again...even if some are completely unrealistic

Its not the unrealistic expectations of the team performance...its the way they DON'T play is what is frustrating. To NOT show up at Tulsa and to NOT play with a passion is what's the problem. Look at the players during the game....they don't appear emotionally involved for some reason. If they go down fighting, so be it.

it is not unrealistic in Junes fourth year to expect to beat an average Tulsa team and a below average Navy team. That is what people are melting down about.

we need to buy out of two of those 2013 games - that will be a death march

I'm not sold on gilbert yet

Texas was painful to watch last year

Who is the four star we recruited this year.

ratings wise pony is way up but stars and ratings dont make great players

June needs to tweak the offense I've never liked the run and shoot and it's awful with a qb like jj who can't hit wide open receivers on those go routes.

Who us coming in at rb that can make a difference?

I completely agree these guys need to look inside themselves and find more enthusiasm. Is it because many are playing hurt? Spike Davis was a man on fire yesterday and stood out...although occasionally for some bonehead plays. He got dinged early on and it appeared to have fired him up

In 2012, SMU's QB situation gets no better unless Preston can improve and play well above early indications (please save the KP blah blah). With the loss of the current OL and question marks all around the team, 7-5 might be a gift. SMU can only hope that 1) it will "have" to stay in CUSA for one more year, and 2) that A&M flips SMU the finger and says see you next year in CS (here's your check). Baylor and TCU will be enough for non-conf challenges. 2010 was a solid recruiting year on signing day, but with a number of recruits lost or transferred (and total busts like Kaiser), 2011's class is the first meaningful recruiting step forward for SMU (and most will be RS FR).

In 2013, the good news is SMU has real talent. With Gilbert (or Preston if he's really really good) at the helm and huge upgrades across the team from the 2010, 2011, and 2012 classes, SMU has a team that can play. Unfortunately, SMU plays Texas Tech, Baylor, TCU, A&M, Boise, Houston, BYU, etc. Sorry kool-aid drinkers, I don't see six wins in that mess.

By 2014, SMU should be a team that can really challenge for 8-10 wins. If you guys are going to completely melt down over a loss that will likely have SMU finish 7-5 (8-5 with a bowl), then you have a lot of frustration coming your way. Many of you drink the SMU kool-aid and then go supersonic during your crash back to Earth. Even if SMU doesn't challenge for a 9 or 10-win season until 2014 or 2015, that's still a pretty amazing improvement if you choose to see it that way.

7-5, 3 years in a row is progress in a program as hapless as SMU's has had the past 30 years. Putting your hopes on a kid who hasn't even began his senior year in high school shows how confidence has quickly faded in Jones and the program though. 2011 was supposed to be our best year and according to Jones, 2012 would be even better. Mr Cox says we have to wait until 2014 to make drastic strides. How do you know????????? BTW, KP did take the team to a championship game, something that hasn't happened since 1982???? Nearly 30 years, an entire generation, to use Jones' terms, haven't had the success that we experienced last year. I wish it was as easy as replacing 1 player (the QB) to get to the next level. I'm sorry, but, in the ultimate team sport, it requires a team to play well. Did you watch Andrew Luck get his [deleted] handed to him last night? He's arguably the best player in the nation and they got drilled. he even looked average. Funny, the opposition does have scholarship players. Get off the QB's [deleted] and figure out how the other 21 players can play better as well.

Tulsa is a good team. Certainly better than SMU. However, Cougar High will win the game. Their play-makers will out-athlete yours. 8-4 and a bowl is still a pretty good year. Congrats on a solid season.

The run and shoot is the most QB dependent offense there is. If SMU does not get an excellent QB for that offense, they are in trouble, just like now.

Agree- but we also must have WRs that can read the D and be on the same page as the QB.

2014 schedule

Baylor
SFA
TCU
Texas A&M
Boise State
Cincinnati
Louisville
Houston
BYU
(and Possibly WVU,Rutgers, USF, UConn or UCF)

CFM, how do you see 8 to 10 wins out of that schedule since you are waiting for 2014?
