As a huge college football fan I decided that I wanted my 8 year old to experience games at the stadium and get a taste of the entire gameday experience. We have absolutely no connection to SMU but decided to support our "home town" team and buy season tickets. This is our 3rd year with the tickets and we have enjoyed each and every year. This past weekend we actually brought 4 of his friends with us and they had a blast. We have started going to a few basketball games as well.
The football team seems to have lost some heart and fight and maybe a lot of it is down to the coach. Whatever the reason we will continue to support the program and we do hope to see it grow and prosper, whether in CUSA or hopefully the Big East.
The main reason for my post is to just say how much our family has enjoyed the games and the Boulevard beforehand. It can be a little intimidating because we have no connections to the school so we are always unsure about who to talk to or where to go. We end up just walking around viewing the sites sounds and smells. The kids love the different games and always have such a good time.
I just found the forums here and this is my first post but I hope to post more often and get more friends and family interested in Mustang athletics.

Welcome to Ponyfans. Always glad to have a new Mustang fan on board and at the games. By the way, you will need to ignore much of the "sky is falling" crowd on the message board. Things are not going great for the Ponies right now, but the future is looking really good.

Welcome...before you get in too deep, bring the kids over to Frog Alley and get the kids something purple to wear. You may have noticed we just beat #5 Boise State on the road and we have room for more fans!

Also, if you guys do end up in a conference with Boise, do your best to attend a game there in person. The stadium isn't much to talk about but the fans were awesome. Very welcoming and very hospitable before and after the game.

American now has two flights a day from Springfield IL to Dallas. My wife (Illinois '68) and I flew in Friday night and back Sunday. She'd never been to the campus or a game. We will now be back. She loved the campus, the Blvd and the traditions (couldn't get her out of Heritage Hall). What a great atmosphere on game day.
Our other option on Saturday was Illinois - Michigan. For all the sky is falling crowd, Illinois had 30 yards total offense the first half and negative 12 yards rushing. Ford is more fun - win or lose. (Obviously more fun with a win!)

You can always go to the Mustang Club or Alumni tent to grab something to eat - $5 or $10. Or come to Spot #33.

This is something I hope we can work on, getting a General Public tent or place for them to congregate. Many that are not affiliate w/ the school don't know where to go.
We used to have bands on the Boulevard but not sure what happened to that.
