This year has been the biggest waste of time.

There's a story going around that in the locker room following the Memphis game that he told the team that this was their destination regardless of how a bowl eligible season turned out.

I have no idea if this is accurate. But since this is message board and the moderators ask you to come onsite and check up on the rumors, then this qualifies.

If Hawaii is not bowl eligible, we will not be going to the Hawaii Bowl............

Fine, if SMU goes to New Orleans or St. Petersburg or wherever, then the request still applies.

While I appreciate the frustration, a waste of time is a little strong. Sitting at 5-1 and coming off a win against TCU felt pretty good. I imagine a better feeling than in many previous yrs. But I do get it.

The seat will be vacant coming back. Heck, it may be empty going over (got to see the buddies and check on the Hacienda). Right on target, Mitch. JJ will lag behind the team, until about Feb. 1ish, so that he can return in time to take a bow for the terrific recruiting class we (er, AK) are signing up.

I'm so tired of the SMU and Hawai'i playing each other talk (or is it a plan, man?). Really, it's pissssing me off to the point that I want to say to June "if you lose to Hawai'i then don't come back."
That's just how sick of it I am.

I hope the team will win at least 8 games on the season and finish feeling good about themselves.

Couldn't agree more with this. His obsession with Hawaii is beyond ridiculous.

You know when Coach Jones got here Hawaii was 12-1 and the thought of playing them out there was kind of fun in a Bowl. Since then Hawaii has gone straight down hill and I know they lost to San Jose State this year. If they played Rice, Hawaii would get their [deleted] kicked for sure and I don't see them qualifing for the Hawaii Bowl this year anyway. Regardless, I just can't imagine why we would promote that bowl to the team when we had bigger fish to fry at 5-1. If Coach Jones wants to schedule Hawaii out there fine. If we end up 7-5 or 6-6 and we get an offer to play in that Bowl fine, but why push that bowl to the team when we were trying to win a Conference Championship and then be rewarded accordingly ?

4 wins in a row isn't that impressive considering they came from UTEP, Northwestern state (D1-AA school), Memphis (probably the worst team in D1), and TCU which was a total fluke. TCU would massacre us if we played them again

Who else then? Seriously.

And who is going to pay them?
