This Is Our Bowl Game

Forget what cruddy bowl we go to,
This is our season defining moment. College Gameday is here, we are on National TV, we are playing a {near} top 10 team that is undefeated.
Time to step it up and have a magical moment like we did against TCU.
I feel that we are going to put the best defense up against Houston that they have seen this year, the big question is if our offense can answer the challenge and keep up with them.
Need our players to step up and make a statement.
I am not a big fan of June Jones, but I am a big fan of SMU and this team.
Lets do it!
This is more important than whatever bowl we go to.
Go Ponies!!!!!!!!!!

No way our offense can keep up with Houston, they're going to drop a bunch of people back and just let McD cut his own throat trying to hit passes against zone (3 will be enough to get pressure since McD lacks pocket presence and mobility). Line or whomever we start at RB will break a few 10 + yard runs but won't be used enough to make a difference. Defensively, I could see us doing what several other Houston opponents have done this year and get a few early stops to keep things close but it'll start to get ugly near halftime when their offense starts clicking against our tired defense.

SMU is minus 11 in the turnover ratio and minus 20 in the turnover ratio over the past two seasons.
Thanks, June!

Does June play defense?

Thanks, June!
Does June play defense?
Does June make terrible JJ McD passes?
Does June provide a terrible pocket for the QB leading to poor decisions?
Does June run and fumble the ball?
etc. etc. etc.

Had we not blown this past like 5 games (and yes im including Tulane). I would of said indeed this is the best bowl game we could play. This will be nothing more than another win for Houston in their big beating against us. Im just hoping next year Padron and future Qbs can take the iniatiive against them and give us a win. Its sad that we beat TCU before we beat Houston.

The ONLY way I see we win this game is on the turnover front and win run the ball lights out ... ball control offense, keep their offense off the field, get some lucky bounces our way ... don't see it happening though ... I'll be watching and cheering us on regardless. Go Ponies!!

Well, I get to watch the game in HD. So I'd say it's a big game. I haven't seen the ponies since the TCU game and that was on some obscure channel I didn't even know I had that I found flipping between other games. I think I saw UH on that same channel glad I don't have to be a defensive coach there, it looks like the offense gets the talent and the defense gets scraps. SMU definitely has a secret group of fans this week most people call them the Sugar Bowl Committee. Scott Van Pelt and I like SVP was talking about Houston vs Alabama in the Sugar Bowl as an interesting match up, seriously... That would be a terrible match up that a lot of people are hoping you guys, or somebody stop from happening.

It is gonna be ugly. No incentive for out team except for pride and we have been in short supply of that for most of the year. June will not want to knock Houston out of BCS bowl and the money CUSA can make from it. Looking forward to USM and TULSA matchups though with UH. This game will show the difference between TCU and their coaches attitude and pride and that of SMU and their coach. Maybe next year.

If we can just imagine TCU helmets on their heads instead of UH helmets, we should be fine. Out-talented, this team can still play with the best of them 3+ Quarters and has for years. It just needs to have the same drive and hate as they have for our "friends" over yonder.

I really hate the BCS. I hope something comes up like the plan that other fella posted about. Whether my team is "AQ" or not something has to be done. like say a fair TV royalties program for ALL FBS schools.
Good luck SMU.

We had better get used to playing Houston in big games, at least if we want to do anything of signficance for the next several years. I for one am excited to take the Dallas / Houston rivalry thing to the next level; lots of differences in our cities / schools to highlight each year when we play.
Go Mustangs !

Our HC better get used to developing competent QBs or not only will we continue to provide Houston with no resistance but we'll be seeing SMU at the bottom of the BE West standings every year as well.
