when you are down by multiple scores and you burn 6-7 minutes + and 18 plays to try and score?...again the great clock management by this coaching team.

I think the strategy was good had we scored when we had the earlier opportunities. There was just no willingness to change the plan when it was necessary.

But that's the point mrydel...adapt strategies when the score is not what you had planned...

That would require a second play card.

That is what I was saying. He played as if we had scored points. Kind of like he refuses to change his position regardless of the situation. Many coaches start a game with a 15 play list that they run regardless of the situation. It appears the Jones has a 80 play list from which he will not vary.

I know mrydel...How about a Plan B-------It's like when I was in college I asked this girl out on Friday at 6:30 PM and she freaked out said 'you calling me at 6:30 on a Friday and expect me to NOT be doing anything else?....you better go to Plan "B'.....I said...."Girl.....you ARE Plan B!'

But it was nice drive.....at least it ensured we would not get shut out.

The main problem with any of these strategies is that we have inserted a very one-dimensional quarterback who cannot throw accurate passes. He represents an enormous liability to the offense as well as the defense.

The offense needs lots of coaxing right now to come up with any points at all. So it's tough to criticize the one and only successful drive.
Hurry-ups and bad offenses don't really mix. Bad offenses don't have a margin for error.
Southern Miss tried the hurry-up with a bad offense when they played here a couple of years ago -- that just got them off the field that much faster.
If you have Colt Brennan at QB (or Case Keenum) it's a different story.

Quick outs etc...use the clock...don't burn it. I am not saying step out of what you do, but they have to have an alternative plan when you are down by more than 1-2 scores. How would you feel as a player knowing that the coach isn't adjusting to make a run to TRY and win, or at least give the team a better chance. Its NOT gonna happen if you don't score quickly or often. The D just ran out of gas and incentive.

If you watch closely for past few weeks you will notice we move ball well when in our hurry up offense and qb calling plays but when June takes over we stall...yes execution is poor also but i am getting feeling June is set in his ways and kids know things aren't going to work but coach doesn't! Shocking and how is a guy going to fire himself...kinda like Jerry as GM for cowboys. Sad because he has done so much to elevate programs. I wonder if he has any close friends, not yes-men coaches, who will give him their opinion and if he will listen. On the other hand they will hang 30 on Rice and think everything is ok again.
