Tape Doesn't Lie Part 2

If you watch tape of yesterday's game, again we have open guys in the flat. Does anyone know if JJ stresses or teaches to look deep always and not emphasize the check down ?
This is not to attack anyone, but serious question for someone who may know. What are the QBs taught to look for in this offense ? It seems short passes every now and then would help at least move the chains.
Also, there were some drops yesterday (at least 3 I counted, 2 on 3rd down) on balls thrown not too bad that would have helped things. Alot of bad throws also, but there were some critical drops.

Two passes. The incomplete short-hop to Thompson in the endzone, and the way overthrown six yard slant route that DJ would have taken for 20-30 yards. There isn't a simpler throw to make then that, yet it was nearly picked off. Watch those to plays, and you know we never had a chance, and you know why. Rest of the tape doesn't add too much.

Great points. The short TD pass to Thompson hurt.

I taped it too, but it is too painful to look at it a second time.

Agree it was painful, but does anyone out there who knows more about the scheme or what is being coached know if they are taught to always look deep rather than check down ? I know Jones always mentions going vertical and deep, but is that so much of the focus that we don't teach or coach the check down, or is it a matter of the QB has to see it and make that decision ?
There are repeated chances to make a simple short pass to open guys that would at least get us some postiive yardage, and it seems instead our focus is on the deeper routes. Thanks.

The cynic in me wants to say, he can't hit the check down route, so why not try the deep route. That doesn't answer the question though hah.

Always go deep. That way, after the interception, the defense has further to run for a TD and we have a greater chance of catching them before they score.

What does McDermott run, like a 10-second 40?
