Simplify the Offense

Why can't (or won't) Jones simplify the offense for JJMcD. If I recall correctly that is what he did for Padron 2 years ago at Houston when BLM went down, and for the next few games til he got more comfortable.

Or is the problem that he has dumbed it down already, and even those throws are beyond JJMcD's abilities?

From what I understand it takes 2 years for receivers and QB's to learn this offense. The spread is a lot simpler.

I thought it was already simple, draw play, bubble screens, then a few short pass plays. No PA or deep pass routes really. I figure its so simple that the other team's defensive coord just has to pick a few plays and even he doesnt pick the right one he still wins.

I think we already have. Lots of plays that we saw previously, dont see at all anymore.

Someone find the play action/rollout that we ran right after Sterling's interception vs TCU last year. That play would help us out a LOT in the red zone. Same play, if they dont throw to I think it's Haynes or whomever the TE is, there is another option with a guy running wide open downfield.

Wayyy too complex a play this year I guess.

It has already been significantly simplified in order to adjust to JJ's physical limitations.

Use San Jose State's offense.

There's not much you can do to simplify an offense for a QB who can't move and can't complete passes. Anything we run has little hope of succeeding with McD at QB.

you mean our play selection this year?

Pass, run, incomplete (or throw in the flat and hope a receiver gets a first)

I thought McDermott was drawing plays on the palm of his hand in the huddle.

Not sure we need to blame JJ McD entirely. First it was Justin Willis who was the blame, then Bo Levi (looks fine at E. Washington), Braden Smith, Kyle Padron, JJ McD. Maybe the coaching staff needs to take some responsibility for things like q.b. evaluation, game planning, teaching, game day coaching etc.
Looks to me like an overly complicated, unbalanced, unproductive offense.
Maybe June can keep building the program and hire an O.C.
Captain Leach?

I still don't understand how Jones had no trouble at Hawaii. Even the worst QBs there out performed BLM/KP/McD

June would rather eat Peruna's droppings than give up control of the offense. We're going to be in serious trouble in the Big East if June keeps striking out with QBs.

Jones CARED out there

From some of the sideline shots of June, during the broadcast, I couldn't tell if he was awake.
Is there something behind the scenes besides the Big East drama?
Hope his health is OK.
