Does anyone think it is possible that we adopt the pistol formation into our offense next year. this would allow for a more down hill run game and open the door to a believable play action. The potential for the play action excites me with the production of Zline. Just think play action with line in the pistol, that would lead to some really big plays.
This is probably a pipe dream, but how exciting would it be to have the pistol formation and a downhill running game.
An exercise in theory I guess for the board participants.

We already have it in the playbook, June will never use it as a base formation though.

I'm sure the coaching staff will be looking at ways to generate more red-zone offense next year. That's been a pretty glaring weakness this season (at least in the 2nd half of the season). We move the ball well between the 20s but can't seem to finish drives. Wouldn't surprise me to see more wildcat or pistol-type looks.
We've also see a little option look with KP this year (NW State). I know it didn't go well, but it shows the coaching staff is looking at different things.

What have we heard about Gilbert?
Does he have to sit out next year?
Can I get an update on RB? Why doesnt June ever run any speed sweeps?
The Red Zone wouldnt be an issue if it wasnt for all the INTs and horribleness of JJ

Didn't we run it one play against Navy when Beasley ran for a td?

Historically, the R & S is at a disadvantage when it's in the red zone because your field is naturally compressed, which takes away many of your routes.

I've come to HATE the R&S. Its old, antiquated, and inefficient. Part of is the players that are trying to execute the offense but most of it is that it is just plain weird.

TCU game. McD handed off to Zach Line then faked a bubble screen to a WR.

That was the wildcat (single-wing)

We should play Wildcat against Rice, and continue next year with it until we get a QB. If Padron is back in next season than back to RnS.

It wouldn't be surprising at all to see the pistol. The original June Run & Shoot had the QB under center. A big part of old run 'n shoot was the QB rolling out a little to threaten the scramble and be more flexible with the handoff.
It was switched to shotgun at Hawaii if I remember correctly.
