Is there any chance. . .

. . .that we do actually open next season at home against TAMU. I know we've got a bowl game coming up and I'm jumping the gun here. But I'd love to see that game at Ford.

They've opened up a whole can of crazy down there in College Station since losing to UT. . .even by Aggie standards. They're blowing up the program and starting over just in time to join the toughest conference in college football. And the apparent front-runner is a spread-offense guy?. . .in the SEC West?. . .Nice.

Personally, my gut is saying they cancel the game

Wonder if they'll buy their way out. Their schedule is insane next year- Bama, Florida, LSU, and Ark all coming to College Station.

So with that schedule why wouldn't they want to play a patsy like us?
We might even be able to construct a temporary pen at the old Beard's site so they can ride their sheep to the game.

GO PONIES!!!

I wonder if they'd prefer Sam Houston State or some other wimp in CS. Especially if they already have a DFW game against Arkansas

I think both SMU and TAMU need some easy wins next year...may be ok if they buy us out, though normally I hate when that happens.

A&M here would be good for attendance. TCU and Boise didn't get to where they're at by playing crap teams. I say bring 'em on. We need to be competitive with teams people recognize to build any kind of following in DFW

I'd tend to agree except that its a home game against a high-profile opponent that would be a sell-out. It will bring lots of first-timers out of the woodwork and onto SMU's campus. Hate to give that up.

Only reason I dont think they buy us out is they will have to schedule 2-3 non-conference games if they cancel us since Arky is now a conference game. They've already scheduled a FCS team so they can't schedule another one of them if they want it to count. There options are pretty limited at this time.

Kind of late to buy out a game for next season. I could see the game being played at the Alamodome in San Antonio, and still be counted as an SMU home game. Personally, I would rather see the 2012 A & M game at the Cotton Bowl and pad SMU's home attendance figures.

At Alamadome it still counts towards our numbers

Why not play it at Cotton Bowl? That would be cool. Only drawback: it would be 80-20 A&M fans for a "home" game
