If we lose JJ all I need out of a new coach is two things:

1) Embrace the history and tradition of football on the Hilltop. From Doak to the Pony Express to our recent resurgence.

2) Recruit Texas! There are tons of great players on the West Coast, but we need Texas kids. We can win with them and more Texas kids will put butts in seats. We could get more casual fans to come see the players they saw on Friday nights.

Just my humble opinion.

Go back to the blue uniforms with the oversized SMU on the front. Recruit the hell out of Texas. Have an offense than is modern. Don't wear a rainforest around your neck.

It's not that SMU isn't trying to recruit Texas, it is more that our Rep is better out of state than in state. Not being known or being known via Pony Excess is better than a history of failure for 20+ years. Get successful and pick up players where you can.

I agree w/ Boston on his one. Klein is good on the WC and I bet he movie/ whatever makes us more attractive to better out of state kids than to comparable in state kids. You probably have little idea how crappy attendance is here or what goes on with all the Poliana stuff if you live in OR. If you're in Lubbock though you remember 18 years of beatings.

It's such a fallacy that we don't recruit texas. We do, 80% of our commits come from texas. People think we don't recruite texas I guess because our top recruites come from out of state. The reason for this is simple if you are a high 3 or 4 start recruit in texas you are getting talked to by all the BIG 12 schools. Sorry but to a kid that gre up in texas these teams are the one he has watched his whole life. For an ou tof state kid, SMu can be a good school in Dallas with a coach that runs a high scoring offense, and by the way they had hall of famers go through there and they know theyn can go to SMU and be the big fish in the small pond.

Exactly Pony Law...out is state has a different appreciation for the program.
