For the first time EVER, a coach has left us in a better place.

Rather than bashing the guy (I do agree timing sucks), focus on where we are versus where we were. We are joining the Big East (not a huge step, but a step) and we need to thank the Circle of Champions and June and his staff for doing that.

We are not used to this, but all good mid-majors have this problem EVERY year. June was a HUGE stepping stone for the program, but he is no bigger than the program.

When or if a girlfriend leaves me (which never happens) I get a new one. You move on a find a better one.

I agree with everything you say but I'm not even sure the timing sucks. When else would you expect this to have happened? This is coach changing season. Timing truly sucking would be late January, early February, it seems to me.

To amplify the thread topic, JJ helped move the program up but it was too much about him and not enough about SMU. That should tell you something. It is time for it to be about SMU.

Exactly. Like I said in another post. Getting to where we are now is like becoming a surgeon. Thank her for the time she put in putting you through medical school and residency, and kick her to the curb and bring on the trophy wife!

True, earlier is better, but first on the BIG recruiting weekend (where he tells the recruits he is talking to ASU by the way) and then the announcement on our BE announcement day, that is bad and unnecessary.

Im more upset losing a promising recruiting class. Im not to worried about JJ leaving, its just that with recruits following him not SMU, it will be hard to find a coach to be able to put up a decent team together. Lets hope whoever interim HC can keep it close with Pitt.
