said you have to assume their are a lot of chapped hides at smu for june looking elsewhere, but that he probably had permission to go talk to another school and had all of his ducks in a row, and then it didn't work out. then even though people were ticked, they said sorry it didn't work out, hey come on back.

final line was "SMU looks really good in this whole deal"

As SMU should. This has been a monumental over-reaction by some fans. I'll throw up if I read one more post that says "I can't trust him" ... for pursuing a job that was better for him? I mean who wouldn't want to coach in from of half filled stadiums with 20k fans.

Plus, the argument of "he shouldn't have done it during a recruiting weekend" is tired. This just tells me how few people have ever been involved in a coach search. One of my good friends tells me how he'll keep clothes at work because he'll spend days working through the night. They move fast and furious. You can't call a time out to take some kids to a steakhouse.

Cox -- I get all that. If he met with them at DFW airport on Monday or even Sunday night after the recruiting , fine. Even though he knew and probably privately shared with others that he was going to look at this, he needed Steinberg to actually act like his agent and tell them to hold off until the recruiting week

Now that I will disagree with you on. If they wanted him that badly, he could have told them I can interview tomorrow. He told us I can interview next month, if I recall.

That being said, what I have a bigger problem with is that it was breaking on the Big East announcement day. He owed us that courtesy. Now that may be ASU's fault, but it should have been made clear, just like it was to us about the Sugar Bowl, that if there were any leaks before today the deal was off.

How about putting on some SMU gear, getting off his [deleted] and promoting the games instead of whining about poor attendance.

Mack brown was the pitch man for UT's come early Stay Late campaign.

The flirting is not the issue. Real simple - Third time in four yrs feels like this is narcism not normal career advancement

Timing was poor for recruits and for our big east announcement. That was in his control.

The attendance thing is smokescreen.

If Fox Sports really want to give SMU huge props, they will set up SMU with their own TV deal.

I can give you 2 million reasons why the number of fans in the stands shouldn't be a factor one way or the other for not fulfilling the requirements of your (JJ's) contract to the best of your (JJ's) ability.

I get it, the timing is slightly (and I do mean slightly) suspect. He's a guy that probably thought he was going to get the job, that received permission, wasn't sneaky about, and was upfront with inquiring players. I'm just not willing to crush his nuts or split hairs over a couple of hours.

If he's truly committed for round 2, I'm fine. If not, he needs to go. Not because he did anything wrong, but simply because we need committed coaches that want to take SMU to the next level. That's it. No drama needed.

Nice alter ego compared to Rivals.

Gimme a break. The timing was horrible and ridiculous. No excuses. June is all about June and showed his true colors.
