Said we look very good for telling June he can come back.

final line was "SMU looks really good in this whole deal"
As SMU should. This has been a monumental over-reaction by some fans. I'll throw up if I read one more post that says "I can't trust him" ... for pursuing a job that was better for him? I mean who wouldn't want to coach in from of half filled stadiums with 20k fans.![]()
Plus, the argument of "he shouldn't have done it during a recruiting weekend" is tired. This just tells me how few people have ever been involved in a coach search. One of my good friends tells me how he'll keep clothes at work because he'll spend days working through the night. They move fast and furious. You can't call a time out to take some kids to a steakhouse.

Cox -- I get all that. If he met with them at DFW airport on Monday or even Sunday night after the recruiting , fine. Even though he knew and probably privately shared with others that he was going to look at this, he needed Steinberg to actually act like his agent and tell them to hold off until the recruiting week
I get it, the timing is slightly (and I do mean slightly) suspect. He's a guy that probably thought he was going to get the job, that received permission, wasn't sneaky about, and was upfront with inquiring players. I'm just not willing to crush his nuts or split hairs over a couple of hours.
If he's truly committed for round 2, I'm fine. If not, he needs to go. Not because he did anything wrong, but simply because we need committed coaches that want to take SMU to the next level. That's it. No drama needed.
