no, it was the resounding opposition to Jones from most fans, boosters, former players, etc.
There was a lot of grassroots effort to halt this deal at the last minute.

I really don't know what to think at this point. They pulled the rug from under him.

I joined asu rivals and they had some great insight. Just like our "CofC", ASU has a similar group. Just like Mustang Club, they have Sun Devil club.
It took a lot of work to dissuade Lisa Love (their psuedo-AD) and one influential booster that JJ was not the right man for them right now.

Yeah, I think they're boosters are called the "Sun Angels" as in manna from heaven.

Makes sense that it's a smokescreen. $2 mil for a buyout really isn't much to a BCS school

I will say ASU fans and boosters can obviously speak loudly, heck if we were about to pay 2 million to a HS coach that had 1 year experience, nobody at SMU would even notice and the deal would go through
