I've stayed away from this board for several years but had to see what was being said after June Jones' day of infamy (ironically, December 7).
I've defended June Jones for 4 years. That ended yesterday. It's clear that Coach Jones doesn't want to be at S.M.U. He is still at S.M.U. not of his own choosing. Does anyone really think we can get any quality recruits with the prospect of JJ jumping ship tomorrow or next year? The truth is that the quality recruits we've been getting under JJ are recruits attracted to his offensive style and success. If they think JJ isn't on the Hilltop for the long-term, they aren't coming.
Time to move on. Cut our losses and move on. No one is going to blame JJ for looking for a better job, but the way he handled it (Saturday and again yesterday, both of which were big days for S.M.U. for other reasons) was a disgrace. Let's move on to a coach who really wants to be at S.M.U...and who won't remind us every game with the lei that he would prefer to be in Hawaii.
